Manchester's Board of Aldermen supported locating a New Hampshire Job Corps Center by a 12-1 vote at their September 5 meeting.
Task Force Chair Dick Anagnost urged the aldermen to support the siting of a Job Corps Center on a 20.2 acre of land next to a proposed research park on Manchester's west side. The undeveloped property is located near the Manchester Community Technical College, which will serve as a major link to the proposed Job Corps Center.
Also participating in the presentation were Michael Power, president of the Workforce Opportunity Council; Gail Garceau, consulting coordinator for the project; Patrick Van Rooyen, Grafton Job Corps Academy Center Director; Manchester City Planner Bob MacKenzie; and Manchester Economic Development Director Paul Borek.
New Hampshire Labor Commissioner George Copadis also spoke in favor of the project.
